Despite owning OGC Nice since 2019, Jim Ratcliffe has made a surprising confession—he doesn’t enjoy watching his own club in action.
In an interview with The Times, the British billionaire, who recently became a Manchester United shareholder, admitted that Nice’s style of play fails to excite him.
“I don’t particularly enjoy going to watch Nice because there are good players, but the level of football isn’t high enough for me to get enthusiastic about,” Ratcliffe revealed.
Signs of a Disengagement?
Adding fuel to speculation about his future involvement, Ratcliffe took a further jab, suggesting that Nice performed better when INEOS wasn’t involved due to multi-club ownership restrictions:
“They were so much better without our interference! Maybe there’s a lesson to be learned there.”
With his focus now shifting toward Manchester United, Ratcliffe’s interest in Nice appears to be waning, raising questions about whether he will eventually step away from the project altogether. Meanwhile, Nice remains in contention for Champions League qualification—despite their owner’s apparent disinterest.
