Heung-min Son (33 years old, 46 appearances and 11 goals in all competitions during the 2024–25 season) has officially announced his intention to leave Tottenham this summer, marking the end of a decade-long chapter in North London.

“Before we begin the press conference, I want to say that I’ve decided to leave the club this summer,” said the Spurs captain, who joined Tottenham in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen.

Tottenham: Heung-min Son Confirms Exit — “The Toughest Decision of My Career”

“I arrived in North London when I was a kid. I didn’t speak English. I leave this club now as a young man,” said Son. “Thank you to all the Spurs supporters who gave me so much love. This is the hardest decision I’ve made in my career. The main reason is that I feel I’ve achieved everything I could at Tottenham. I leave this club as a truly proud man. Now I need a new environment to take on a new challenge.”

“They respect my decision. It was hard to tell them, because I probably spend more time with them than with my own family—we’re together five or six hours a day. They were disappointed, but also happy for me.”

According to early reports, Son could move to Major League Soccer (MLS) to continue his career across the Atlantic.
