The Julian Alvarez saga has taken a sensational turn. Arsenal and Atlético Madrid have reportedly reached a completely unexpected agreement over the transfer of the Argentine striker.
Julian Alvarez has become one of the most dramatic stories of the summer transfer window. Targeted by PSG, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Chelsea, the Argentine could ultimately end up signing for Arsenal.
Alvarez Rejects Arsenal and Waits for Barcelona
The Gunners are said to have proposed a huge package worth €50 million plus Viktor Gyökeres to convince Atlético Madrid to release their star player. According to El Chiringuito TV, the two clubs have effectively reached an agreement in principle.
However, Alvarez could derail the entire deal. The World Cup winner is reportedly refusing to discuss personal terms with Arsenal because his priority is to join FC Barcelona. The former Manchester City forward has even asked Atlético to honour a previous promise regarding his departure.
Barcelona could therefore still turn the situation around. Despite their financial difficulties, the Catalan club remain Alvarez’s preferred destination. Arsenal may have Atlético’s approval, but Barcelona appear to have already won over the player.
