Inter Miami continues its transformation into an Argentine stronghold—driven by the presence and influence of Lionel Messi.
After signing Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárez, and welcoming Javier Mascherano to the coaching staff, the Florida-based club has now secured Rodrigo De Paul. Atlético Madrid officially confirmed his departure Friday night, bringing an end to the midfielder’s four-year stint in European football.
At 31, De Paul leaves Europe to reunite with his close friend and captain, Lionel Messi. At his unveiling, he was visibly emotional: “I wanted to live the experience of playing every day with the greatest of all.”
“Sharing the Day-to-Day”
The former Atlético man didn’t hide that this move fulfills a long-held dream: “Leo and I have always shared this dream—to play together at club level and live the day-to-day. With the national team, it was incredible, but always too short. That dream has finally come true.”
De Paul’s arrival is yet another sign that Inter Miami is building a serious project around Messi, one based on personal bonds and on-field chemistry. As a key player for Argentina, De Paul adds experience, quality, and a deep connection to the club’s now clearly Argentine identity.
