Nasser al-Khelaïfi has once again been acquitted. The president of Paris Saint-Germain has been definitively cleared in the case linked to the television rights for the 2026 and 2030 World Cups, following a decision issued on Friday by the Federal Supreme Court in Lausanne.
This marks the third acquittal in the case, after rulings at first instance and on appeal, bringing to an end legal proceedings that lasted eight years.
A Long-Running Case Comes to an End
The case dates back to 2017. Nasser al-Khelaïfi and Jérôme Valcke were suspected of “aggravated mismanagement.” The Swiss federal prosecutor accused the former FIFA executive of having favored beIN Sports in the allocation of TV rights, in exchange for the use of Villa Bianca, a luxury property located in Sardinia, between 2014 and 2015.
Once again, the courts found no offense committed by the PSG president. His lawyers spoke of a “full rehabilitation” and a total victory after more than eight years of legal proceedings, denouncing unfounded accusations that had damaged his reputation and stating that this decision definitively closes the case.
