Griezmann: Heading to the World Cup, But Not with France

Antoine Griezmann has cleared up any uncertainty about his summer plans: he will indeed be present at the World Cup in the United States… but only as a supporter. The French forward, who is preparing to leave Atlético Madrid at the end of the season, confirmed he will come to cheer on the national team without considering a return to international duty.

Much like during the Olympics, “Grizou” will take on the role of France’s number one fan. After the season ends, the 2018 World Cup winner will head to the United States to join Major League Soccer, with a move to Orlando on the horizon.

Clear-minded about his future, Griezmann is not entertaining any unlikely comeback to the national squad. “I’ll have my jersey on… in the stands with my son,” he joked.

While embracing his supporter role, his commitment remains strong: in his eyes, France stands as the top favorite for the world title. “They are the number one favorites, and I’ll be fully behind them,” he affirmed.
