Paris Saint-Germain secured their place in the semi-finals at Anfield, but the night left a bitter taste. At the center of concerns was the injury to Désiré Doué, who was forced off early during the clash against Liverpool FC.
There is huge concern for Doué following his injury on the PSG side. After Hugo Ekitike was injured for the English team, it was Désiré Doué who caused worry for the Parisians. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder complained about his knee after a challenge with Dominik Szoboszlai, ending up off the pitch. Clearly struggling, he had to be substituted, unable to continue.
Major injury concern ahead of crucial matches
The young talent, who has been rapidly improving this season, left the field limping, raising serious doubts about the severity of his injury.
He was replaced by Bradley Barcola, who had just returned, in a like-for-like substitution. While the change made sense, it does little to ease concerns about Doué, whose role in PSG’s attacking rotation continues to grow.
With the Champions League semi-finals approaching, this injury comes at the worst possible time. The Paris staff are now awaiting medical tests to determine the extent of the knee issue. Beyond PSG, the French national team is also watching closely, as Doué’s rapid rise had put him in contention for a role in the coming months. A verdict is expected soon in a decisive period where every absence can prove costly.
