The end of Cristiano Ronaldo’s playing career is getting closer. In an interview with Vogue, the 41-year-old Portuguese forward admitted that the 2026-2027 season could be the final one of his extraordinary career.
Under contract with Al-Nassr until June 2027, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is seriously considering hanging up his boots once his deal with the Saudi club comes to an end.
“Probably my last year”
“It’s probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy,” Cristiano Ronaldo said. After more than two decades at the highest level, the Portuguese star is already thinking about his next chapter. “I’ve already planned everything for my future,” he added, aware that leaving football will inevitably create a major void.
Ronaldo nevertheless intends to keep himself busy after retirement. Travel, padel and spending more time with his loved ones are expected to become a much bigger part of his daily life. “As football could leave a big void, you have to occupy your time in different ways,” he explained, while also expressing his desire to “have more fun” and enjoy everything he has built.
Cristiano Ronaldo also highlighted the sacrifices he has made during nearly 25 years at the highest level. Although his final decision has not yet been officially announced, retirement in June 2027 is becoming an increasingly credible scenario. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star could therefore play one final season with Al-Nassr before bringing one of the most remarkable careers in football history to an end.
