Trailing 2–0 in less than twenty minutes, weighed down by a missed penalty and hit by Ousmane Dembélé’s injury exit, PSG looked headed for a disastrous night in Monaco. Suffering from a left calf issue and already doubtful before kickoff, the 2025 Ballon d’Or was forced off in the 26th minute, limping and with his head down — a massive blow at an already critical moment.

But in the middle of the chaos, Paris found an unexpected savior. Coming on for Dembélé, Désiré Doué completely changed the match: a quick goal to spark the comeback, constant movement between the lines, and then the winning goal in the second half. In between, Hakimi had brought PSG level before halftime, despite Köhn saving Vitinha’s penalty.

Reduced to ten men after Golovin’s red card just after the break, Monaco held firm for a long time, but Parisian pressure eventually paid off. “That’s football, we try to manage each player individually. I didn’t take any risks; he trained normally yesterday. We’ll need to see the tests tomorrow to know the exact nature of the injury because he took a knock in the first 15 minutes. We’re trying to handle it in the best possible way,” said Luis Enrique after the match.
