Kylian Mbappé ended the year with a historic performance. The Real Madrid forward closes out 2025 with 59 goals scored in the famous white shirt, equaling a record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who achieved the same feat in 2013.
A small penalty for the history books. Mbappé found the net late in the match against Sevilla (2–0) this Saturday in La Liga, reaching 59 goals with Real Madrid. A symbolic figure, celebrated in true CR7 fashion, and far from insignificant.
A symbolic celebration inspired by a legend
Speaking to Real Madrid TV, the former Paris Saint-Germain star enjoyed a moment filled with emotion. “It’s a special day, it’s my birthday. Since I was little, I’ve dreamed of playing a professional match on my birthday, especially with Real Madrid, the club of my dreams,” Mbappé said, visibly moved by the significance of the occasion.
The Frenchman then reflected on the magnitude of the record. “This record is incredible. In my very first full year, achieving it like my idol, the greatest player in the history of Real Madrid, a global reference in football…” he explained, before detailing his celebration. “I wanted to pay tribute to him with this celebration. He has always been kind to me, helping me adapt at Real Madrid. We’ve talked a lot. It was nice. I wanted to celebrate like him and dedicate this victory to him.”
An openly acknowledged tribute, but also a milestone. From now on, the objective is clear: to no longer share this record and claim it outright in 2026.
