Alexander Isak (25) is back in training with Newcastle after skipping the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and being spotted training in Spain with former club Real Sociedad. But his return was anything but smooth.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe publicly criticized Isak’s behavior, calling it “unacceptable.” Officially sidelined with a thigh injury, the striker failed to inform the club about his trip to Spain. Speaking from Seoul, Howe was clear: “No player can act like that and expect to rejoin the group without a conversation. He has to earn that right.”

Liverpool pushing, but the price is steep

This tension surfaces as Isak eyes a move to Liverpool, who reportedly had a €138 million bid rejected. Newcastle will only consider a sale if an offer exceeds £160 million (€188 million) and if they secure a replacement.

Top targets include Benjamin Šeško (RB Leipzig) and Yoane Wissa (Brentford), according to Thee.

For Howe, there’s no ambiguity: “The team comes before individuals.” The Isak saga is far from over.
