Just one year after joining Al-Hilal, Théo Hernandez is reportedly considering ending his spell in Saudi Arabia. The French left-back wants to return to Europe, and his representatives have already begun sounding out several Italian clubs.
Could his Saudi adventure be over after only one season? Like many European players, Hernandez is reportedly no longer fully satisfied with his situation in the Saudi Pro League. According to Tuttosport, the former AC Milan player is even hoping to reach an agreement with Al-Hilal to terminate his current contract, which runs until June 2028.
Juventus and Napoli Contacted Over a Serie A Return
Hernandez joined Al-Hilal from Milan in the summer of 2025 for around €25 million and signed a three-year contract. However, his stay could prove much shorter than expected if the Saudi club agrees to release him. His agent has reportedly offered his services to Juventus and Napoli, although no advanced negotiations have yet begun with either club.
A return to Italy would be a natural option for the 28-year-old, who spent six seasons with AC Milan and established himself as one of Serie A’s leading players in his position. However, the financial aspect could complicate any deal, as Hernandez earns a particularly high salary in Saudi Arabia and would probably need to accept a significant pay cut to join a major European club.
Juventus and Napoli are therefore monitoring the situation without having submitted an offer. Much will depend on Al-Hilal’s position, as the club is under no obligation to release a player signed only a year ago. At this stage, Hernandez’s desire to return to Europe has been reported, but his departure remains highly uncertain.
