With Galatasaray leading 1-0 thanks to an Alvaro Morata penalty (12′), the referee awarded a highly controversial second penalty after Dries Mertens appeared to seek contact and fall deliberately.
Enraged by the decision, Adana Demirspor players protested fiercely before walking off the pitch, refusing to resume play after discussions with their club officials.
