Ligue 1 continues to be a tough league for foreign coaches, and Roberto De Zerbi is the latest example of the challenges of managing in France. The OM coach already sees his future elsewhere.

De Zerbi made it clear: once he leaves Marseille, he won’t return to Ligue 1. “After OM, I won’t coach in France again. There’s a problem in this league (referring to refereeing). If the French are happy with this officiating, good for them… But today, it was scandalous. The referee wasn’t calm enough to handle the match, probably because of all the controversy,” he told Téléfoot.

Italy or the Premier League? Several clubs are watching

His comments have already sparked reactions abroad, and several clubs could take advantage of his potential departure. In Italy, Atalanta Bergamo could be an interesting option, with Gian Piero Gasperini set to leave, while Juventus, struggling in Serie A, might look for a new coach if Thiago Motta fails to convince.

In England, Tottenham, which already showed interest in 2023, could make another attempt if Ange Postecoglou departs. Manchester United, which previously considered De Zerbi before extending Erik ten Hag, could also become a possibility if more instability arises at Old Trafford.
