With Didier Deschamps’ contract ending in 2026, the name of Zinédine Zidane continues to be linked to the French national team. However, Kylian Mbappé is staying out of the discussion.

Speaking to Le Parisien, the Real Madrid forward was clear that the decision lies with Philippe Diallo, the president of the French Football Federation (FFF).

Avoiding Zidane… on Purpose?

Interestingly, Mbappé tries to avoid crossing paths with Zidane, who also resides in Madrid, to avoid fueling rumors.

“We’ve crossed paths a little, but I try not to see him too often because if I do, there will be a lot of speculation. Even though it’s always a pleasure to see him.”

Will Zidane eventually take over the French national team? The speculation won’t stop anytime soon.
