Real Madrid has landed its first signing of the summer: Dean Huijsen, a 20-year-old centre-back, joins from Bournemouth for €58 million, the exact amount of his release clause. The club confirmed the deal on Saturday, with Huijsen signing a contract through 2030.
A Rising Star with Big Potential
Trained at Malaga, then developed at Juventus, AS Roma, and most recently Bournemouth—where he played 30 Premier League games this season—Huijsen is also nominated for England’s Young Player of the Year.
He’s seen as a long-term investment, but also a solution for the present.
Set for Club World Cup Debut
With Rüdiger, Alaba, and Militão all sidelined and Vallejo on his way out, Huijsen will step into a key role quickly. Thanks to a deal with Bournemouth, he’ll arrive right after the Premier League ends, with his medical set for May 20.
Huijsen is expected to make his Real Madrid debut on June 18 vs Al Hilal in the FIFA Club World Cup, under incoming coach Xabi Alonso.
As the club awaits Trent Alexander-Arnold, Huijsen is already shaping up to be a cornerstone of Madrid’s next generation. The rebuild begins now.
