Big changes are coming to Real Madrid—not just on the pitch, but also on the back of the shirts.
With Luka Modric and Lucas Vázquez leaving, and the arrivals of Kylian Mbappé, Dean Huijsen, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, several iconic jersey numbers are up for grabs—or off limits.
According to AS, Kylian Mbappé is set to take the No. 10 shirt left behind by Modric, marking a symbolic step toward his leadership role at the club. That means the No. 9 jersey—previously worn by Karim Benzema and briefly by Mbappé—may remain vacant for now. However, it could be handed to Endrick, the young Brazilian talent arriving this summer.

No 66? Not in La Liga
Trent Alexander-Arnold, who famously wore No. 66 at Liverpool, won’t be able to keep it. La Liga rules only allow squad numbers from 1 to 25 for first-team players. That leaves him needing to choose a new identity in white.
Meanwhile, Dean Huijsen is tipped to take No. 12, the number he already wears for Spain’s youth teams.
Other available numbers include 16, 17, 18, 24, and 25—but the final distribution will depend on the rest of Real’s summer business. One thing’s for sure: the new era in Madrid will be reflected down to the smallest detail—right on the shirts.
