FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Manchester United to sign Marcus Rashford on loan, with a buy option between €30 and €35 million. The English forward even agreed to cut his salary by 25% to help make the move happen. But—once again—the club is stuck.

Rashford will be at Barça next season. However, despite the agreement, he can’t be registered yet—just like Dani Olmo last season.

Financial fair play strikes again

To fix the situation, Barça may need to sell a player—Christensen is one option—to restore the 1:1 spending ratio.

Bottom line: even if the loan becomes official in the coming days, Rashford won’t be allowed to train or play with the team until early August. Just another example of how Barça’s financial issues continue to limit their sporting ambitions.
