The Paris Saint-Germain summer is finally heating up. According to L’Équipe and Fabrizio Romano, Ilya Zabarnyi is now closer than ever to joining the French champions. PSG have submitted a new and improved offer to Bournemouth after their initial €60M bid was rejected. The English club are still holding out for €70M, but the gap is narrowing.
Zabarnyi gave his verbal agreement to PSG back in June. While Tottenham were briefly linked, no other club is currently in active negotiations with Bournemouth. Paris are leading the race — and planning for life after Marquinhos with a solid option on the right side of defence.
Al-Khelaïfi steps in
A clear sign this is serious: PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is now personally involved in the deal. Whenever he gets involved, it usually means the club is ready to close fast on a top target.
Thanks, Ekitike!
Paris are also benefiting from a surprise financial boost. Hugo Ekitike’s €90M transfer to Liverpool includes a sell-on clause that nets PSG around €15M — money that could help close the final gap with Bournemouth.
In short: everything is falling into place. PSG are pushing, Zabarnyi is waiting, and Bournemouth are listening. A few final touches, and Luis Enrique could have his first major defensive signing of the summer.
