Paris Saint-Germain is gearing up for a busy January transfer window. Following a relatively quiet summer market, sporting director Luis Campos is ready to make key signings this winter if the team’s needs arise.
Campos emphasizes that the club is the star, stating, ‘We do not rule out signing a star, but it must adapt to the PSG machine.’ This commitment to maintaining project stability is non-negotiable, with salary policies applying equally to all players, regardless of their past or status.
In the face of mounting injuries and criticism over a seemingly thin squad, Campos stands firm in defending his strategy. ‘We have zero regrets; we did what we believed was right. Did the coach want a larger squad? Yes, absolutely. I’ve always listened to my coaches,’ he explained, reiterating that Luis Enrique had clearly outlined his needs for the squad.
January Transfer Market: New Signings ?
The January transfer window is expected to focus on new recruits, with the previous window resulting in just three signings: two goalkeepers, Chevalier and Marin, along with central defender Illia Zabarnyi. Campos is confident in this approach, advocating for specific player profiles.
‘We needed more height, a player comfortable with the ball. Today, we play a much more direct game, so we need variety.’ Despite the ongoing criticism, Campos believes in his plan and is prepared to make moves in upcoming transfer windows if required.
Looking ahead, Campos remains open to the possibility of further reinforcements. Thanks to their successes in the Champions League and the Club World Cup, PSG boasts solid finances, even amid the turmoil in French football.
