Donnarumma Salary Demands Shocked PSG

In a fiery discussion on RMC’s Rothen s’enflamme, Luis Campos addressed the departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG. The Italian keeper, who was a hero last European season, left the club this summer after the arrival of Lucas Chevalier.

Campos justified this heavy decision, saying it stemmed from unrealistic contract negotiations. “Donnarumma wanted a salary reflective of the old PSG, not the current one. Our policy is merit-based: you earn more when you deserve it,” he emphasized.

Campos admitted he was “shocked” by Donnarumma’s demands, noting that contract renewal talks were the first of the summer. Chevalier’s signing also aligns with PSG’s aim to Frenchify the squad. “It was hard to grasp Donnarumma’s expectations. He was the first player we discussed a renewal with, but it became clear it wouldn’t work out,” he explained.

This shift reflects a broader strategy at PSG, emphasizing a more structured and sensible team-building approach as they move forward. Campos is determined to reshape the club’s future with a more disciplined financial strategy.
