Present in Toulon for a charity match organized by Pascal Olmeta and his association Un Sourire, un Espoir pour la Vie, Zinédine Zidane explained that he still could not play again after an injury, joking about the weight of the years. “Unfortunately, I would have liked to, but since we are no longer young (laughs)… We have the age, and unfortunately, from time to time, we get hurt,” he said.
Deprived of the pitch, he took on the role of coach for the duration of the match, stating that he hopes to return “soon” to play with his friends. When asked about a possible return to a professional bench, he replied with the same smile that it would be “soon too.”
