The financial dispute between Kylian Mbappé and PSG keeps escalating, and in Madrid, frustration over Paris’ handling of this never-ending saga is growing louder by the day.
A new chapter has opened in the Mbappé–PSG drama. While the French striker is demanding before the labor court that PSG pay the wages and bonuses outlined in his contract, the Parisian club continues to defend its past decisions. A stance that is irritating many… including at Real Madrid.
According to Defensa Central, a media outlet close to Real Madrid, the tension between PSG and Mbappé is closely monitored in the Spanish capital. Now a Madrid player, Mbappé is asking the French courts to award him the money PSG still owed him, plus additional compensation for damages, as his lawyer Delphine Verheyden confirmed.
The PSG–Mbappé showdown is causing waves in Spain
But it is PSG’s communication that is especially angering the Real hierarchy.
During the recent hearing with Mbappé’s legal team, PSG claimed they had expected to sell the player for €180 million last summer. A statement that made Real Madrid jump out of their seats: for the club, that version simply doesn’t add up.
Madrid had offered €200 million… and PSG never responded
Madrid officials insist that in 2021, Florentino Pérez put an offer of more than €200 million on the table, an offer that PSG never replied to. An attitude seen as disrespectful, and yet another sign of the chaotic way Paris handled the entire Mbappé affair.
Today, Mbappé arrived in Madrid for free… and the club refuses to accept Paris’ attempt to rewrite history.
