Real Madrid were struggling to get their season going… until Lamine Yamal accidentally hit the “motivation” button. Thank you who? Thank you, Barcelona.
Before the Clásico, the Barça prodigy fired off a few comments that blew up in the Madrid press. The result? A fully awakened Real, a clinical Mbappé, and Barça sent home with a 2–1 defeat.
Thibaut Courtois even wanted to thank his unexpected “mental coach”. Speaking to Cadena COPE, the Belgian admitted , with a smile you can almost hear:
“If I see Lamine in a restaurant, I’ll say hello,”
“Lamine Yamal helped us a lot.”“Lamine is a great player, he’ll mark an era, but he stirred things up and the press jumped on it. When emotions run high, you say things you shouldn’t, but that’s the Clásico. After losing four times last year, we needed a spark. Lamine’s comments motivated us.
When they beat us, they didn’t respect us either. If I see Lamine in a restaurant, I’ll say hello,” he said.
In modern football, you don’t always need a mental coach, sometimes a confident teenager is enough to put Real Madrid back on track.
Yamal, the best motivator the Real squad could ask for? Apparently, yes.
