Big Danger for France, Dembélé Wary of Messi

As many observers place France among the leading favorites for the 2026 World Cup, Ousmane Dembélé is refusing to get carried away. The PSG forward has called for caution ahead of Les Bleus’ opening match against Senegal.

Speaking to Marca, the Parisian star stressed that being labeled a favorite guarantees nothing in modern football. Despite France reaching the final in each of the last two World Cups, Dembélé prefers to remain grounded and focused on the immediate challenges ahead.

The European champion was also asked about Lionel Messi and Argentina’s chances of defending their world title. Dembélé made it clear that he has no intention of writing off his former teammate.

For Dembélé, even at 38 years old, the Argentine legend remains capable of changing the course of an entire tournament on his own. “He is the best player I have ever seen and the greatest in football history. He is still very dangerous,” he said. With the World Cup just days away, Dembélé believes that while France is among the favorites, Messi’s Argentina remains one of the biggest threats in the race for the trophy.
