World Cup: the best and worst draw for the French team

France will learn its opponents for the 2026 World Cup this Friday (6 PM) in Washington. Placed in Pot 1 thanks to their 3rd place in the FIFA rankings, the Blues will avoid giants like Argentina, Spain, Brazil, or England, as well as the host countries (United States, Canada, Mexico).

The worst draw? A tough scenario could associate with France’s group:
– Morocco, Colombia, Uruguay, or Japan (Pot 2),
– Norway, Algeria, or Ivory Coast (Pot 3),
– Italy or Turkey if they qualify through the playoffs (Pot 4).
Note: only one European nation per group outside of France, which limits certain combinations.

The ideal group would look like:
– Australia (Pot 2),
– South Africa (Pot 3),
– Haiti or Panama/New Zealand (Pot 4).
A group that is largely manageable for Mbappé and his teammates.
