The evening descended into chaos when Fran Garcia, already struggling, received two yellow cards in the span of two minutes, provoking Xabi Alonso’s exasperation. Reduced to ten men, Real paradoxically played better, creating several dangerous situations but failing to breach the Galician defense. However, the nightmare intensified: in stoppage time, Alvaro Carreras was sent off as well, leaving the Madrid team to finish the match with nine players, completely overwhelmed.
