Paris FC came close to pulling off the deal of the year: N’Golo Kanté could have settled in the capital this summer. Antoine Arnault acknowledged it straightforwardly: the operation was almost finalized before collapsing at the very last moment.
The Parisian boss even reveals the behind-the-scenes details of the saga: Kanté was willing, the PFC was pushing hard, everything was signed in their minds. But Al-Ittihad abruptly shut the door, blocking the departure of the 34-year-old World Champion. Arnault does not hide his disappointment: “I was sad that he didn’t come, he also wanted to come. With N’Golo, we would probably have five more points today.”
Kanté, it’s over
This transfer would have propelled Paris FC into a whole new dimension, both sportingly and in terms of media presence. The mere idea of seeing Kanté in blue and black had already made the club dream… but this story will remain a “almost.”
The matter is officially closed, confirms Arnault. But it will remain one of the biggest regrets at the beginning of the PFC’s grand project era.
