Appointed head coach of Botafogo last July, Davide Ancelotti will not continue the journey. The Brazilian club officially announced on Wednesday the departure of Carlo Ancelotti’s son, who was taking charge of a first team as head coach for the first time in his career.
It is already over for Davide Ancelotti. Brazilian champions and Copa Libertadores winners last season, Botafogo were hoping to build on that success. However, the 2025 campaign ended with a disappointing sixth-place finish in the league, not enough to convince the board to continue with the young Italian coach.
Botafogo Ends Davide Ancelotti’s Short Spell
The official statement read: “Botafogo informs that Davide Ancelotti is no longer the head coach of the first team. Fitness coach Luca Guerra, as well as assistants Luis Tevenet and Andrew Mangan, are also leaving the club. This decision was taken after meetings held this Wednesday (17). The club thanks Ancelotti for his professionalism and commitment during the period in which he led the team and was part of the Alvinegra family. Botafogo wishes him every success in his future challenges. The new technical staff will be announced shortly.”
Six months and then dismissed, it was a brief experience for Davide Ancelotti in Brazil, who will now have to bounce back after a difficult first spell as a number one.
