Paris Saint-Germain are making solid progress in their pursuit of Zion Suzuki. Following the initial reports from Italy, RMC Sport has now confirmed the Parisian club’s interest in Parma’s Japanese goalkeeper.
A move to Paris is beginning to look increasingly possible. What was merely a rumour last week is now gathering momentum. The deal would fit perfectly with PSG’s new strategy of targeting young players with major potential before their market value rises significantly. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, with the information confirmed by RMC Sport, the club’s directors are closely monitoring Suzuki ahead of a possible transfer this summer.
PSG Considering an Immediate Loan Move
However, the 23-year-old goalkeeper would not necessarily arrive to play immediately for PSG. The scenario currently being considered would see Paris sign him before immediately sending him out on loan, allowing him to remain a first-choice goalkeeper and continue his development.
There is currently no room for Suzuki in the PSG squad. Matvey Safonov has been confirmed as the first-choice goalkeeper, while Lucas Chevalier does not want to leave. Unless a swap deal with Parma becomes possible, Suzuki would have little chance of playing regularly in Paris. PSG could therefore secure one of the most promising goalkeepers of his generation without immediately disrupting the existing hierarchy.
Lucas Chevalier’s situation could nevertheless change PSG’s plans. Should the French goalkeeper leave this summer, Suzuki could be kept in the squad and handed an immediate role in Paris. For now, the preferred option appears clear: sign Zion Suzuki and then loan him out. However, Chevalier’s potential departure could completely reshape the situation.
