Kylian Mbappé thought he was making a generous, almost trivial gesture. By giving €60,300 — taken from his bonus from the last World Cup — to a police officer responsible for the French national team’s security, the star forward simply wanted to thank a trusted individual. The case highlights the risks linked to personal gifts, even when driven by good intentions. Mbappé himself is not the subject of any legal action, but he now finds himself indirectly tied to a sensitive administrative affair. A gesture of generosity turned into an institutional headache, and a stark reminder that in certain spheres, financial transparency allows no exceptions — even for a gift given from the heart.
