It’s now confirmed: the Lens vs PSG match will not take place on April 11.

Having qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals against Liverpool (April 8 and 14), Paris Saint-Germain requested that this trip to Bollaert be postponed, as it fell between their two European fixtures. The request was ultimately approved by the Ligue de Football Professionnel this Thursday.

LFP prioritizes European competitions

Despite resistance from RC Lens and public statements from its president Joseph Oughourlian, the LFP board validated the postponement, as reported by RMC Sport. The clash of Matchday 29 will therefore be rescheduled for later in the season.

A clear decision from the LFP, which prioritizes clubs involved in European competitions. A choice that is not unanimously supported, but one that could also have a major impact on the title race, with a potentially decisive Lens vs PSG encounter approaching the final stretch.

The LFP offers Lens a schedule adjustment. In its statement, the league confirmed: “At the request of Paris Saint-Germain and RC Strasbourg, in order to prepare under the best conditions for their respective quarter-finals in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Conference League, the LFP Board of Directors unanimously decided, excluding the clubs concerned, to postpone the matches RC Lens – Paris Saint-Germain and Stade Brestois – RC Strasbourg, part of Matchday 29 of Ligue 1 McDonald’s, to Wednesday, May 13. These decisions are accompanied by a proposal to RC Lens to adjust its schedule by bringing forward the match RC Lens – FC Nantes (Matchday 33) to Friday, May 8, should Paris Saint-Germain reach the Champions League semi-finals.”
