Paris Saint-Germain will ultimately not parade down the Champs-Élysées if they beat Arsenal next Saturday. According to L’Équipe, the Paris police prefecture has rejected the idea of organizing a celebration parade on the famous avenue, despite discussions held over the past few days.
A huge disappointment for PSG supporters, especially after last season’s massive celebrations following the historic triumph against Inter Milan. Paris had already been denied some festivities after winning Ligue 1, and the situation is repeating itself ahead of a potential second European star.
Eiffel Tower Celebration Plan Takes Shape
But all hope is not lost. According to RMC Sport, PSG could instead organize a huge celebration at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. The Champ-de-Mars is now reportedly the main option being studied by both the club and local authorities to celebrate a possible European triumph.
The Paris police prefecture is even expected to introduce traffic restrictions around the area from Saturday night into Sunday in order to guarantee “the smooth running of a festive event.” Officials reportedly see this solution as easier to manage than a parade on the Champs-Élysées.
After celebrating near the Arc de Triomphe last year, PSG could now offer a spectacular image in front of the Eiffel Tower, one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. A giant stage that the club already dreams of showcasing worldwide if it defeats Arsenal.
