It’s now official: Bruno Genesio is leaving LOSC. After several weeks of rumors, Lille announced on Monday the end of the French coach’s spell at the club following the expiration of his contract.
Bruno Genesio and Lille are indeed going their separate ways. Despite a successful season that ended with a third-place finish in Ligue 1 and direct qualification for next season’s Champions League, both sides decided it was time to move on. Internally, the idea of starting a new cycle had reportedly been growing for several weeks.
Lille Searching for a New Coach
In its official statement, LOSC praised Bruno Genesio’s “talent, commitment and performances” during his two seasons in northern France. The club also highlighted Lille’s strong European campaigns and his major role in maintaining the team’s sporting stability.
Club president Olivier Létang also paid tribute to his now former coach: “Bruno Genesio will remain a key figure who positively marked the history of the club,” he said.
Now, the big question concerns his replacement. According to several reports, the profiles of Thiago Motta and Stéphane Dumont are highly appreciated by Lille’s management.
