Nothing seems to be going according to plan for England just days before their opening match at the 2026 World Cup. Between a shooting near their future base camp, an earthquake felt across parts of the United States, and now an astonishing theft of equipment, the Three Lions have endured a series of unfortunate events.
As Thomas Tuchel’s squad continued its preparations in Florida, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake was felt in several regions of the country. No injuries were reported, but the incident came only hours after a shooting in Kansas City that left nine people injured.
England Hit by Major Equipment Theft
As if that were not enough, the England national team also fell victim to a major theft while transporting equipment to its base camp in Missouri. According to the Daily Mail, several essential items disappeared, including the boots of stars Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham.
The official match ball intended for training sessions was also reportedly stolen. British media claim that only one ball managed to escape the thieves. Analysis equipment, Thomas Tuchel’s tactical board, and other important materials were also part of the targeted shipment.
Kansas City police have launched an investigation while the English Football Association is working to recover the stolen items as quickly as possible. The drivers responsible for transporting the equipment from Florida to Kansas City are reportedly among the suspects. Just days before their opening match against Croatia, England’s World Cup campaign is already off to a chaotic start, although no players were directly affected by the incidents.
