Adrien Rabiot already knows which opponent he would like to face in the semi-final of the 2026 World Cup. After qualifying with a win over Morocco, the French national team is now waiting to discover its next rival between Spain and Belgium.
Les Bleus continue their journey in this 2026 World Cup. After overcoming Morocco in the quarter-finals, France secured a place in the last four. On Tuesday in Dallas, Didier Deschamps’ men will face the winner of the clash between Spain and Belgium.
Rabiot eyes Spain for a revenge clash
Asked about the upcoming semi-final, Adrien Rabiot admitted that a showdown with La Roja would have a special flavor. France had been eliminated by Spain in the semi-finals of Euro 2024 with a 2-1 defeat.
“Spain would be great, a nice revenge, a great match, a great semi-final. But as I said earlier in an interview, honestly it doesn’t really matter. We have strength, belief and confidence. We believe in our path, in our destiny. No matter the opponent, of course we’ll watch the game because we love football and want to see it. But whoever it is, we’ll prepare the right way. We’ve never underestimated anyone, whether it’s Spain or Belgium,” said the AC Milan midfielder on M6.
While the idea of a revenge against Spain naturally draws attention, Rabiot insists above all on the team’s mindset. France feels ready to face any opponent with the same ambition: reaching another World Cup final. Belgium would also represent a major challenge, but the message from the French camp is clear—whoever they face, Les Bleus want to go all the way.
