Zinédine Zidane will be the next head coach of the France national team. The former Real Madrid manager has reportedly already signed a long-term contract to take charge of Les Bleus.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the agreement between Zidane and the French Football Federation has been signed. A verbal deal had been in place since November and was never called into question, despite interest from several clubs. The FFF has not yet officially announced his appointment, with confirmation potentially coming in the next few days or weeks, possibly shortly before France’s fixtures in September.
Zidane Prepares a Major Staff Overhaul
Zidane is not simply planning to replace Didier Deschamps on the bench. He reportedly wants to transform the internal structure of the national team and build a staff made up of trusted associates and several former 1998 World Cup winners. David Bettoni is expected to become his main assistant, while Hamidou Msaidie could serve as second assistant. Grégory Dupont may oversee physical preparation, with Stéphane Planque responsible for video analysis and opposition scouting.

Fabien Barthez is being considered as goalkeeping coach, while Bernard Diomède could also join the new setup after working with several French youth teams. The medical department may be reorganised around Dr Hervé Collado, a trauma specialist who previously worked with the France women’s national team between 2012 and 2016.
Zidane is also reportedly seeking a new team manager and wants to modernise the organisation of Les Bleus. He is considering bringing more women into the press and data departments as part of a broader transformation. His arrival would therefore represent far more than a simple change of coach, marking the beginning of an entirely new era for the France national team.
