Rumours of Rodri joining PSG lasted only a few days, but that was enough to fuel speculation and create the impression of another transfer battle between Paris and Real Madrid. In reality, however, negotiations never truly progressed.
Rodri Was Never a Genuine PSG Priority
According to Le Parisien, PSG never considered signing the Spanish international a genuine priority. Club officials believe Luis Enrique already has enough midfield options with Vitinha, João Neves, Fabian Ruiz, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Senny Mayulu and Dro Fernandez. The Rodri rumours may instead have been used to divert attention as Real Madrid gained the upper hand in the race for Yan Diomandé.

The version reported in Spain is even more blunt. According to AS, Rodri did not respond to PSG’s approach and was not even interested in hearing the details of the Parisian proposal. The Manchester City midfielder is reportedly considering only two possibilities for his future: remaining in England or joining Real Madrid.
Under contract with Manchester City until June 2027, Rodri will soon have to clarify his situation. From PSG’s perspective, however, the door now appears completely closed. Rather than a failed transfer, this was seemingly a move that never truly began.
