Erling Haaland has decided to radically change his look. Just hours before Manchester City’s first Premier League match of the season, the Norwegian striker unveiled a brand-new haircut.
The news is confirmed. Haaland himself shared pictures of his transformation on social media on Sunday, August 23. After several years with his famous long blond hair, often tied in a ponytail or bun, the Manchester City goalscorer has opted for an extremely short cut.
Haaland returns to very short hair
It is a dramatic change that inevitably brings back memories of a younger Haaland. Before growing out the hairstyle that became one of his trademarks, the Norwegian wore his hair much shorter, particularly at the beginning of his career and during his first years at the highest level.
The 26-year-old even documented the moment he said goodbye to his long hair. “This beautiful long hair, time to let it go,” he explained in a video posted on YouTube. He added that he had initially considered making the change after the World Cup before ultimately waiting until the start of the new season.

On social media, Haaland joked about his transformation with the messages “New season, new trim” and “Short hair, don’t care.” Unsurprisingly, his new look immediately sparked plenty of reactions from supporters.
The timing is no coincidence: Haaland revealed his new haircut just a few hours before Manchester City’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth. New season, new Haaland… at least when it comes to his hair.
