Manchester United have made another major move in the transfer market. The club have officially announced the signing of Carlos Baleba from Brighton. The 22-year-old Cameroonian midfielder has signed a contract until June 2031, with the option of an additional year.
The exact fee has not been officially disclosed by either club, but the deal could reach around €82 million. Several English media outlets report an agreement worth £65 million guaranteed, with a further £5 million in bonuses, taking the total package to £70 million.
Manchester United Further Strengthen Their Midfield
Carlos Baleba had become one of Manchester United’s top priorities as they looked to reinforce their midfield. The Red Devils had been tracking him for several months and had previously explored a move when Brighton were still demanding close to £100 million.
After coming through at LOSC before joining Brighton in 2023, Baleba leaves the Seagulls after 112 appearances and four goals. Brighton confirmed that the player wanted to take this opportunity and complete a move to Manchester United.
His arrival continues the major rebuild of United’s midfield. Manchester United had already signed Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos this summer. In Baleba, the club are now adding a player with proven Premier League experience who can bring power, ball-winning ability and drive through the centre of the pitch.
