Chelsea, a Selling Machine: More Than Half a Billion Euros Raised in Just Two Transfer Windows

Chelsea spend huge amounts in the transfer market, but the London club have also become a genuine selling machine. Over the past two seasons, the Blues have already raised more than €500 million from player departures. And that figure could quickly exceed €600 million before the transfer window even closes.

Chelsea are often mocked for their extravagant spending. But the Blues also know how to sell — and sell well. During the 2025-2026 season, Chelsea had already carried out a major clear-out of their squad. The departures of Noni Madueke, Christopher Nkunku, João Félix, Djordje Petrovic and many other players allowed the London club to bring in around €340.6 million over the course of the season.

Already More Than €165 Million in Sales This Summer

Chelsea have followed exactly the same strategy during the 2026 summer transfer window. According to Transfermarkt, the Blues have already generated €165.65 million from departures. Andrey Santos notably joined Manchester United for €56.3 million, Marc Cucurella moved to Real Madrid for €55 million, Trevoh Chalobah signed for Como for €30 million, while Tyrique George joined Everton for €21 million. Combined with last season’s sales, Chelsea have already reached around €506 million in transfer income across two seasons.

And that total could rise very quickly. Liam Delap is expected to leave in a deal potentially worth around €50 million, while Nicolas Jackson could also be sold for close to €70 million. If both moves are completed for the reported fees, Chelsea would bring in another €120 million, taking their total sales to approximately €626 million over two seasons.

That figure may not even be final, with several other players still potentially leaving London before the transfer deadline. Chelsea could therefore record a second exceptional year in terms of transfer income, confirming a feature that has become central to their economic model: spending heavily, but also selling players on a massive scale.
