In Barcelona, one idea had been gaining more and more traction: making Harry Kane the club’s future No. 9, the natural heir to Robert Lewandowski. Mundo Deportivo even reported that “the Kane option is gaining weight,” with the board viewing him as the perfect successor. But the plan has now collapsed.
Barça have hit a wall in this pursuit. Despite their growing interest, and with Julián Álvarez considered too expensive and practically unattainable, Harry Kane is slipping away. According to Sport Bild, the Catalan attempt to lure the England captain has simply failed.
Kane, for his part, prioritizes stability. He feels protected at Bayern, he’s in top form, his sporting situation is perfectly stable, and with the World Cup approaching, he wants to avoid any risky moves. In short: he’s not going anywhere.
Kane was meant to succeed Lewandowski
This is a major blow for Barcelona, who saw Kane as the ideal successor to Lewandowski. With a release clause set at around €65M in 2025, more than 400 career goals, a complete striker profile, natural leadership and his seamless adaptation to Bayern, Kane was viewed as a plug-and-play solution — reliable, proven, and instantly effective.
For now, he remains in Bavaria, and Barça’s big rebuild in attack suffers a serious setback.
