Real Madrid want to move fast. Rodrigo Mendoza is Elche’s 20-year-old revelation and he has completely won over Xabi Alonso and half of Europe.
Mendoza is priority number one. With the league resuming soon and a match against Elche coming up, Alonso has only one name in mind: Rodrigo Mendoza. The Madrid coach has urged Florentino Pérez to act quickly and sign the midfielder he sees as “the new Zubimendi”.
Manchester City coached by Guardiola, Arsenal coached by Arteta, Juventus, Milan and Inter are already in the race. Every top club wants the Spanish midfielder who is shining with Elche and Spain’s U20 team.
A bargain fee for Europe’s giants
Mendoza’s market value has risen from 1 million euros in June to 9 million euros today, but his release clause remains at 20 million euros which is very affordable for the big European clubs.
Real want a midfielder at all costs
Despite a strong start to the season, Alonso insists the squad needs reinforcement in midfield this winter. Mendoza fits perfectly. Young talented affordable. A classic Florentino-style signing in the spirit of Vinicius Rodrygo and Güler. If Real Madrid do not move quickly, Mendoza could easily join a rival. The countdown has already started.
