The major clear-out continues at Chelsea. After a disappointing season that will see the Blues miss out on European competition, the London club is preparing a significant squad overhaul ahead of the summer transfer window.
Xabi Alonso is already making bold decisions at Chelsea. Just months after his departure from Real Madrid, the Spanish coach has relaunched his career in London with ambitious plans for the future. According to several English media outlets, numerous departures are being considered as the club reshapes its squad.
Alonso’s Core Group for the Future
Filip Jorgensen, Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap, Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoît Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, Caleb Wiley and Kendry Paez are all reportedly among the players who could leave Stamford Bridge this summer. Meanwhile, the futures of Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella continue to generate speculation, with the Argentine linked to Real Madrid and Manchester City, while the Spanish defender is said to be interested in a return to La Liga.
Despite this extensive restructuring, Chelsea have already begun strengthening the squad with the expected arrivals of Emanuel Emegha and Valentín Barco. At the same time, Alonso has reportedly delivered a very clear message to the club’s hierarchy regarding his plans.
According to The Athletic, the Spanish manager considers seven players completely untouchable: Reece James, Cole Palmer, Moisés Caicedo, Levi Colwill, Estevão, João Pedro and Josh Acheampong. These seven stars are expected to form the foundation of Chelsea’s 2026-27 project as the Blues aim to return to the top of English and European football.
