If there is one topic Eden Hazard was often teased about during his career, it was his relationship with food. Fifteen years after the famous “Burger Gate” incident with the Belgian national team, the former Real Madrid star has decided to laugh about it by launching his very own burger.
Hazard is launching his burger, but will Real Madrid fans enjoy it? Not so sure. The former Red Devil has teamed up with fast-food chain Quick to release “L’Eden,” a sandwich available in beef, chicken, or fish versions. It is a clear reference to one of the most memorable moments of his career, when he was spotted eating a burger shortly after being substituted during a Belgium match in 2011.
A Burger With a Charitable Purpose
Unsurprisingly, the announcement immediately amused supporters, especially Real Madrid fans who have never forgotten the numerous debates surrounding the playmaker’s weight during his time in Spain.
This time, however, Hazard has added a charitable twist. Part of the proceeds from burger sales will be donated to a program dedicated to renovating sports facilities for young people in Belgium. It is a positive initiative that allows the former Chelsea star to turn an old joke into something meaningful.

And for anyone feeling guilty after trying “L’Eden,” Hazard already has a solution: a few kilometers on a bicycle, just as he does now in retirement. The Belgian icon will take part in the famous Lille-Hardelot cycling event on June 7, a demanding 168-kilometer ride. But as he recently admitted, there will probably still be a small beer afterward. Sport is important, but so is enjoying life.
