The controversy surrounding the management of Kylian Mbappé’s injury at Real Madrid continues to grow. Between revelations from L’Équipe and the player’s denial, the medical saga is stirring tensions behind the scenes in Madrid.
Officially, there is no issue between Mbappé and Real Madrid. However, behind closed doors, the narratives differ. According to L’Équipe, the club’s doctors reportedly made an error during the initial examinations of the French captain. A mistake that was far from trivial and allegedly also affected Eduardo Camavinga last December after his left ankle injury, raising doubts about the reliability of the club’s medical staff.
Growing Tensions Over Medical Decisions
This situation is said to have deeply frustrated Mbappé. Following what was considered a more reliable diagnosis in early March, the former Paris Saint-Germain player reportedly contacted Florentino Pérez directly to make a radical decision: no longer rely on the club’s medical team. He now wishes to be treated exclusively by Christophe Baudot, with whom he previously worked in Paris.
Already involved, Baudot is believed to have overseen the treatment protocol that enabled the French star’s return to competition. Internally, the objective is clear: to allow the 2018 World Cup winner to regain 100% of his physical abilities before the final stretch of the 2025–2026 season.
However, Mbappé has denied the claims in recent hours: “The information saying they examined the wrong knee is not true. (…) With Real Madrid, communication has always been very clear… There is no issue.” Despite this, L’Équipe and Daniel Riolo stand by their reports, insisting that a mistake did occur.
