We thought we’d never see them together again. Yet in Brazil, at the academy of Ceará Sporting Club, three young boys are taking the field under the legendary names of Messi, Neymar and Iniesta.

No nicknames — these are their real given names. A surreal story born from pure football passion. Their parents, die-hard fans of the Guardiola-era Barcelona, chose to honor their idols in the most symbolic way possible.

Then came Neymar. His father, Gilson Freitas, wanted something truly unique. He first considered Loco Abreu, but the family found it too eccentric. One day, watching Santos vs Grêmio, he discovered a 19-year-old phenomenon named Neymar:
“I wanted a name that almost no one else had.” The decision was sealed.

Finally, Iniesta. Alan Vieira refused the usual names like Francisco or Manuel — too ordinary. A lover of Barça’s midfield genius, he declared:
“Francisco? No. Francisco sounds like someone who loses his ID. Iniesta hid the ball.”

Today, these three kids carry the names of global icons. The question remains: will they live up to their legendary names? At Ceará, a new dream generation has already begun to write its own story.
