In a recent interview with German media outlet Welt, Bayern Munich’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expressed his regret over missing the chance to sign midfielder Florian Wirtz this summer.
The talented German player ultimately joined Liverpool for a staggering €125 million, but Rummenigge believes Bayern would have been a better fit for him.
Rummenigge stated, “I must honestly say that I am still sorry for Florian Wirtz, as I think he would be better off at Bayern Munich than at Liverpool.” His comments reflect a keen interest in the player, highlighting Bayern’s ambition to attract top talent.
The Bayern chief also referenced another missed opportunity, striker Nick Woltemade, who moved to Newcastle for €75 million. Rummenigge acknowledged that Bayern could have secured Woltemade’s services as well, showing his concern over the club’s recruitment strategy.
