According to different versions circulating on social media, the Real Madrid star supposedly disappeared after the World Cup before being replaced by a lookalike. And the story goes much further: the CIA, aliens and even reptilians have gradually been added to the scenario. Needless to say, there is absolutely no evidence to support the rumor.
The internet has once again come up with a wild conspiracy theory. It all started with comparisons of photos of Vinicius. Brazilian social media users claimed to have noticed differences between the player appearing for Real Madrid and the one recently seen with the Brazilian national team. The main “clue” cited by supporters of the theory concerns his tattoos, with some claiming that tattoos visible on his thigh while playing for Madrid appear to be missing in certain images with Brazil. Changes in his facial appearance have also been used to fuel the rumor, but none of these details provides any evidence that the player has been replaced.
From a Lookalike to CIA and Alien Theories
One version of the theory claims that Vinicius mysteriously disappeared after the 2026 World Cup and that a lookalike took his place so that his sporting commitments and numerous advertising contracts could continue. As often happens with online conspiracy theories, the story quickly became even more spectacular. Some posts brought the CIA into the scenario, while others referred to powerful international “elites.” One viral version even claims that Vinicius was killed after the World Cup before being replaced. Once again, there is no credible evidence whatsoever to support any of these claims.
Another branch of the extraordinary story even involves aliens. A video of a Brazilian psychic resurfaced on social media in which she described dreaming about an alien invasion at a football stadium in Miami, with players being taken aboard a spacecraft. The clip was subsequently incorporated into the Vinicius conspiracy theory, with some posts going as far as claiming that the Real Madrid forward and Neymar were abducted during the World Cup. Other versions mention reptilians and attempt to connect these scenarios to supposed changes in Vinicius’ physical appearance.
Real Madrid and Vinicius’ entourage appear to have no intention of giving the viral story much attention. Marca reports that the club and those close to the player are ignoring these “fake news” stories, viewing them as absurd claims born on the internet. Vinicius continues his career normally with Real Madrid and Brazil, while CNN Brasil notes that he was still playing for his club in September and started for Brazil against Australia. His dip in form in recent months may have provided fertile ground for the rumor to spread, but between a player simply performing below his best and a Vinicius supposedly kidnapped by aliens and replaced by a CIA-controlled double, the internet has clearly chosen the more spectacular explanation.
