Saudi Arabia isn’t giving up on Lionel Messi. Two years after missing out on the Argentine superstar in 2023, the Kingdom is back with a mission: turn La Pulga into the face of the Saudi Pro League ahead of the 2034 World Cup. But Messi isn’t rushing into anything—at least, not yet.
For now, the 8-time Ballon d’Or winner remains committed to Inter Miami, where he plans to see out his contract (until December 2025). According to Marca, Messi’s current goals are clear: win the MLS title and help launch Miami Freedom Park, the club’s new stadium, in March 2026. A one-year extension is even being considered.
Saudi Arabia still waiting in the wings
But Al-Ahli, fresh off an Asian Champions League title, continues to push. Several sources confirm: the Messi deal is not dead. Saudi officials are betting on a change of heart in 2025—or a potential free-agent coup in early 2026.
For now, Miami holds the cards. But with Saudi cash on the table and the 2034 World Cup on the horizon, this saga is far from over. Stay tuned.
